Introduction: Welcome to my Adrenalin Misfits guide for the Kinect. Anyone who has played an SSX game in the past will understand the game progression right away. Basically you start the game with the worst board and no specific skills. As you play you will get better and start placing higher in the rankings. This in turn will unlock better and more varied boards for you to ride. Once you have the better boards you can go back to the earlier races and start getting first place and the “A” rankings. The majority of the achievements will be unlocked during the course of normal play and the rest will be completed by practicing and replaying races with better boards.

Step 1 - Trials. Right off the bat, let me say to not get discouraged at the beginning. You will probably suck until you get the hang of the game and how it tracks your movements. After you have a couple of races under your belt you will notice the difference and you will be unlocking different characters and boards with higher stats. This learning curve is maybe 30 minutes to an hour. You need to complete each of the trial events and while doing these, do the various movements to perform tricks. At the start of each event always try for the “Boost" launch until you get that achievement too. In addition to the four achievements for just completing the trials, you can easily get all these as well: Starting Boost, Item Attack, T Glider, Landing Boost, Front Grab, Side Grab, Air Trick Sideway Combo, Air Trick Vertical Combo, Jib & Switch and EZ Jump.

Step 2 - Events. Once you complete the trials you are now free to pick any of the events that you like. In every event, you always start at Lv.1 and after completing it by getting first place you will unlock Lv.2 and so on. As you complete the events you will unlock more characters and better boards. The differences in characters seems slight, I actually just used my avatar for the majority of the game. The big changes come from unlocking the new boards. Once you get your first “Rare” board the game starts getting much easier and you are ready to move on to the next step. You do not have to race every single event or level. The whole goal here is to get better boards to tackle Step 3. You can also get different boards by completing the levels in multiplayer. We unlocked our first rare board by completing the “Fly Distance” events in multiplayer. During this step go for anything you did not complete in Step 1 and also try for, Triple Air Trick, Boost Max, No Crash Ace, Star Trick, I Can Fly! and World Debut. I listed World Debut as "online" but it does not require you to race online you just need to be sigined into Live so it will register your score to the leaderboards.

Step 3 - “A” Ranks. Now you will be replaying events to get the “A” ranks. I have put my suggestions for each type of event under their respective achievement descriptions. Obviously when going for the race rank “A” use a board that has high speed, and use a board with high technique stats for trick events and so on. I have listed the race, rider and board that I used on each event. These are just suggestions, feel free to use whatever you feel works for your play style. I also placed the time / score I had when I got my “A” rank. The game does not tell you the cut-off point for the ranks so I just listed what I had for reference. You could possibly get the "A" rank with a slower time or lower score. There are 5 achievements for the “A” ranks and you only need to play Free Race, Downhill Slalom, Balloon Buster, Fly Distance and Trick Score. You do not need to play the Stadium Games events unless you want to.

Step 4 - Local Multiplayer. Get another person to play with you. There are 3 achievements that need to be done with someone else standing beside you. They are pretty simple but if you run into trouble they are explained in the guide. There are only 3 of them. That’s it!

Conclusion:

You are almost guaranteed the first 750:gsicon:. The only hard part about the game is going for the "A" ranks. Those come down to trial and error and replaying events to get better times and scores. Some people will finish much faster than others.

Hope you have fun with the game and if you hated it, well maybe the guide will help make it less painful.

A special thanks goes to Terrin for posting his “A” rank scores and times.

Thanks for reading.

Achievement Guide

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1520/UPtT9b8=.jpgStarting Boost - 20:gsicon:

Change from the stopping position to accelerating position on the word "GO!".

At the beginning of every race you start in the stopped position which is just standing facing the screen.

The counter goes 3, 2, 1, GO. You need to time your launch to jump from the stopped position to the forward position right as it changes to GO. So as it is counting down, right after saying "1", quickly jump and land sideways placing your right foot forward and left foot back (or left forward and right foot back). May take a couple of races to get the timing down but it is not too hard and you will be doing a bunch of races before we are finished.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1520/UPg4xEo=.jpgItem Attack - 10:gsicon:

Stomp your front foot when you have an item.

As you are going down the hill in the races you will occasionally see a glowing line between 2 small objects. Ride over the line to gain a random object. Once you have it the announcer we say something like "You got an item" or "What did you get". To use it, simply pick up your front foot and then stomp it back down while on a ground surface.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1520/UPnYPNk=.jpgT Glider - 10:gsicon:

Spread your arms wide to the left and right while in the air.

Ride or jump off a ramp and simply spread out both arms while you are in the air.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1520/UPv5NWw=.jpgLanding Boost - 20:gsicon:

Perform an air trick and stick the landing.

Ride or jump off a ramp and perform any trick you like. Just twist your body for a simple spin. Land it by bending at the knees slightly and you will have this finished.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1520/UPoZzf8=.jpgTriple Air Trick - 30:gsicon:

Twist your body while in the air and perform at least 3 air tricks.

This is probably easiest done with 3 consecutive spins. Jump off a big ramp and just twist your body from side to side to spin. If you need more air time to perform the trick, the biggest ramps are in the "Fly Distance" event. You can also try spins with grabs.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1520/UP+7JgY=.jpgFront Grab - 10:gsicon:

Raise your front leg while in the air and perform a front grab.

Ride or jump off a ramp and raise your front leg off the ground. While standing sideways just kick your front foot out to the side and hold it for a few seconds. If you need more air time to perform the trick, the biggest ramps are in the "Fly Distance" event.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1520/UP5b3pU=.jpgSide Grab - 20:gsicon:

Raise your back leg while in the air and perform a back grab.

Ride or jump off a ramp and raise your front leg off the ground. While standing sideways just kick your back foot out to the side and hold it for a few seconds. If you need more air time to perform the trick, the biggest ramps are in the "Fly Distance" event.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1520/UPx61yA=.jpgAir Trick Sideway Combo - 40:gsicon:

Perform an air trick with 2 consecutive horizontal revolutions and land.

Basically just ride or jump off a ramp and do two spins. Jump off a big ramp and just twist your body from side to side to spin. If you do three you will also get "Triple Air Trick" upon landing. If you need more air time to perform the trick, the biggest ramps are in the "Fly Distance" event.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1520/UP2aL7M=.jpgAir Trick Vertical Combo - 40:gsicon:

Perform an air trick with 2 consecutive vertical revolutions and land.

Just ride or jump off a ramp and do two flips. The easiest flip is the front flip, so just jump off a ramp and lean forward to start flipping. You need two complete flips and score a clean landing for this to work. If you need more air time to perform the trick, the biggest ramps are in the "Fly Distance" event.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1520/UP69O70=.jpgBoost Max - 80:gsicon:

Make a clean landing with your boost at max.

Your boost meter is at the bottom of your screen and you increase your boost meter by doing tricks. The more tricks you do while in the air the more boost you gain. You need to max out your meter while airborne and then make a clean landing. To land just slightly bend your legs at the knees before hitting the ground. It is almost automatic.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1520/-+S5fQ==.jpgRiding Trials Complete - 30:gsicon:

Complete all the Riding Trials.

The trials are where you will start the game. Trial 1 is the Riding Trials and you will be tasked with completing the basic move set here. The board and character selection does not really matter for the trials so just pick what you like. Prior to starting the event the game will run you through each task and give you a diagram of how to do each of them. In Trial 1 you need to do the following in a single run:

1) "Face your feet sideways to go."

2) "Face your feet forward to stop."

3) "Lean forward to speed up."

4) "Tilt your body to the left and right to pass between the flags." You only need to make it through a couple of them.

5) "Raise your front foot and stomp to activate your item." First, you need to ride over one of the glowing lines to actually pick-up an item, then you can use it.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1520/-cWwyA==.jpgFly Distance Trials Complete - 30:gsicon:

Complete all the Fly Distance Trials.

Trial 2 is the Flying Trial. The board and character selection does not really matter for the trial so just pick what you like. Prior to starting the event the game will run you through each task and give you a diagram of how to do each of them. In Trial 2 you need to do the following in a single run:

1) "Just jump up if you want to catch some air."

2) "Use a ramp if you want to catch some serious air."

3) "Spread your arms while in the air to glide." While standing sideways and in mid-air, hold both your arms straight out to the sides.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1520/UPoq9OM=.jpgAir Trick Trials Complete - 30:gsicon:

Complete all the Air Trick Trials.

Trial 3 is the Air Trick Trial. The board and character selection does not really matter for the trial so just pick what you like. Prior to starting the event the game will run you through each task and give you a diagram of how to do each of them. In Trial 3 you need to do the following in a single run:

1) "Do tricks by twisting your body in the air." Just twist around a bit while airborne to do different tricks.

2) "Raise your front leg while in the air to do a front grab." While in the air and standing sideways, kick out your front foot and hold it for a second or two.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1520/UPvKDHA=.jpgJib Trick Trials Complete - 30:gsicon:

Complete all the Jib Trick Trials.

Trial 4 is the Jib Tricks Trial. The board and character selection does not really matter for the trial so just pick what you like. Prior to starting the event the game will run you through each task and give you a diagram of how to do each of them. In Trial 4 you need to do the following in a single run:

1) "Keep your balance while you're grinding, or you will fall." If you are having trouble, an easy way to do this is to just start the event and get out of the cameras view. You should land right on the first rail and ride it the whole way to get your check mark.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1520/UP9dwy4=.jpgFree Race Master - 50:gsicon:

Finish a "Free Race" race with Rank A.

I recommend trying to do this with the following settings:

Race: Lv.3 - Shellfish Stairs

Character: My Avatar, Krystale

Board: Rare Board – High Top

"A" Rank reference time: 1’08”759

This is just a straight race to the bottom and the fastest time wins. Play the course a few times to get a feel for it and then get to the bottom as fast as you can by using whatever paths and shortcuts get you to the bottom the quickest. Don’t forget to use your Boost start and lean forward during the entire race to go faster. Initially I was trying to get this on the Lv.1 race and could never come close. I was about 10 seconds away from the "A" rank reference time. After switching to the Lv.3 race, I got it on the third run. You can cut off huge sections of this race by just going off course and splitting the "S" curves in half with a straight line. Even though there are more racers in this event, they stay on the course and are never even close to you. Do a mini jump and spin to get boost which will help you blast past the off course sections. Then just be sure to aim your landings so you are facing the right direction when you get back on course.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1520/UPnrBcU=.jpgDownhill Slalom Master - 50:gsicon:

Finish a "Downhill Slalom" race with Rank A.

I recommend trying to do this with the following settings:

Race: Lv. 1 - The Snowfields

Character: My Avatar, Krystale

Board: Rare Board – High Top

"A" Rank reference time: 1'10"891

You need to get down the mountain as fast as possible while navigating through the gates at the same time. For every gate you miss, you will receive a 2 second penalty. Again, just keep replaying the first race until you memorize the locations. By the time I got my first "A" rank I was able to hit 31 of the 32 gates without too much trouble. Remember to pretty much lean forward the whole time for more speed and there are a couple of turns where you will need to make a sharp slow turn to get between the gates. Other than that it is straight ahead with some slight directional adjustments.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1520/UPgL-VY=.jpgBalloon Buster Master - 50:gsicon:

Finish a "Balloon Buster" race with Rank A.

I recommend trying to do this with the following settings:

Race: Lv.1 – Adrenalin Peak

Character: My Avatar

Board: Rare Board – High Top

"A" Rank reference score: 3000 points (Thanks Terrin)

The big trick here is to try and keep your combo going. For every balloon you get, your combo points increase and the next balloon of the same type will be worth the new point value assuming you can collect it before your combo meter runs out. For example, the first yellow balloon is 10 points, then 20, 30, 40, 50 and finally 60. Once you hit 60 each yellow balloon after that is also 60 points assuming you can keep your combo going. Once you break your combo you are reset back to 10 points per balloon. There are also red balloons and they start at 50 points.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1520/UP2pFq8=.jpgFly Distance Master - 50:gsicon:

Finish a "Fly Distance" race with Rank A.

I recommend trying to do this with the following settings:

Race: Lv. 1 – Triple Cascades

Character: My Avatar, Glopee or Pestor

Board: Rare Board – High Top

"A" Rank reference score: 1404 points

This is possibly the easiest “A” rank to get. All you need to do is stay in the air as long as possible. To help achieve this always hold both arms out to glide as long as possible and as soon as you land, jump again. On the Lv.1 race you have 3 large drops where you can get a ton of distance from. You can jump 3 to 4 times before the first big jump. These small gains will get you over 60 yards before the first big jump and if you keep doing the small jumps throughout the entire event they really add up. Jump and glide on the first large drop for a total around 300+ yards. Keep doing mini jumps all the way to the second large drop and you will be close to or past 600 yards. Now keep jumping to keep your score rising all the way to the third large drop. You can get a huge 300+ yards off this one jump if you nail it just right. You will be around 1200 yards at this point. Finally, keep doing the mini jumps until the finish line.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1520/UPxJ7jw=.jpgTrick Score Master - 50:gsicon:

Finish a "Trick Score" race with Rank A.

I recommend trying to do this with the following settings:

Race: Lv.1 – Adrenalin Peak

Character: My avatar

Board: Rare Board – High Top

"A" Rank reference score: 11968 points

This one is also pretty simple. As you go downhill, just keep jumping and doing quick spins for 300 to 400 points. Then as soon as you land, jump and do another spin. You don’t even have to really worry about the other racers or even steering for that matter. You are just going for the most spins you can get before crossing the line. Repeat all the way down the hill and you should easily get the “A” rank.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1520/UP5o54k=.jpgNo Crash Ace - 20:gsicon:

Finish a race in 1st place without crashing.

Again, this will get easier to achieve once you have played for awhile and unlocked better boards. I did this on the Lv.1 Downhill Slalom with Sabre and the Grim Reaper board. Just get out in front as fast as you can, be careful to navigate through the gates so you don’t get a time penalty, and then don’t take any unnecessary chances. Alternately, you can also do this easily on the Lv.1 "Fly Distance" event. All you are going to do in this event is jump straight up with your arms out at a "T". It is almost impossible to crash.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1520/UP+IHxo=.jpgStar Trick - 80:gsicon:

Get a star in a race while performing an air trick.

While you are playing the Balloon Buster event, you will notice a few star shaped balloons on the courses. These are very rare and on the Lv.1 event I have seen 2 of them. One is off a jump in the middle of the track and the other is off the middle of the big jump at the end. What you need to do is go fast enough so that you get the distance and height to actually reach the star. To slightly complicate this a bit more, you also need to be doing a trick when you make contact with the star. I suggest doing a basic spin as these are easiest to pull off consistantly. So pick either a speed or all-around character, your best board and work your way down the hill. Try to complete a trick prior to reaching the jump that leads to the star so you will have the extra boost from a clean landing. Then lean forward to be going as fast as possible, line up and jump off the ramp toward the star. Start twisting to spin and keep your fingers crossed. This will probably take a couple of tries but you will know when you get it because the achievement unlocks before you even hit the ground.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1520/UPyvCxQ=.jpgI Can Fly! - 80:gsicon:

Get big air in a race.

You need to fly over 200 yards in a single jump. The easiest place to do this is found in Lv. 1 of “Fly Distance”. You have three huge drops in a single run of the event so that equals three chances to get it. Lean forward to speed to the ramp and jump. While airborne, spread out both arms and just hang there until you land again. I got 261 yards off the 3rd big ramp in this event my first time attempting it. I used Pestor and the Overdrive board but you should be able to do it easily with anyone.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1520/UP1P84c=.jpgJib & Switch - 40:gsicon:

Perform a switch riding while jibbing.

Get on a grind rail, and while riding it, quickly jump and spin to switch your feet locations from right foot forward and left foot back to left foot forward and right foot back (or vice versa). I find it easiest to do on the curved rails for some reason.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1520/UP7xHkY=.jpgOnly One Winner - 20:gsicon:

Win a multiplayer challenge.

You need another person to stand beside you for this one. Just select the first race level and get to the bottom before the other person.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1520/UPzQF-M=.jpgIntense Rivalry - 20:gsicon:

Crash hard into another player.

You need another person for this one. When the race starts stay in the stopping position and let the other person go down the hill a bit. Now have them enter the stopping position in a nice open straightaway. Once they are stopped you just ride downhill and guide yourself to crash straight into them.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1520/UP0w72A=.jpgOne-Two Finish - 50:gsicon:

Finish a race in 1st and 2nd place with a friend.

You need another person for this one. First place gets easier to obtain the more you play and as you unlock better boards. As long as you can always get first the other player just needs to be good enough to come in second. I did this with my 8 year old daughter on the Lv.1 race. We were both just using our avatars and Lv.3 "Special" boards.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1520/UPiSBJk=.jpgWorld Debut - 30:gsicon:

Get your score registered in the world rankings.

Once you complete your first race and your score is uploaded to the leaderboards this will unlock. You will need to be signed into Xbox Live for this to register.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1520/UPly-Ao=.jpgEZ Jump - 10:gsicon:

Jump while you are boarding.

Most likely this will be your first achievement. As soon as you start riding for the first time just jump straight up and this unlocks.

Hey ur right on the balloon burst info about the star, *sorry I couldn't get back to you I was on vacation*

EDIT: My only advise which made this alot easier is to do the A ranking is I had trouble as I was using the characters say for jump challenge a JUMP character. Use Krystale she makes things so much easier as she has powerful jumps and is the fastest character so for the tricks and jump challenges I had so much air that it was impossible not to hit the amounts/

Example on the jump challenge the final large cliff on that one alone I hit around 300-400 feet with the bonus for air time on one jump it made the difference for me.

For my Board I used a Advance board or get the special board for landing 300 jumps in a row or hitting 7+ balloons on a single jump those I find are your 2 best easy boards to get

Terrin has the full 1K and I'm close at 950. Just need the balloon popping event "A" rank.

You can check the leaderboards (of this site) by going to a specific games main page. For instance the link to this game is here. Then just click on the leaderboard tab. Of course this only tracks users that have actually signed up to have their gamertags listed in the site leaderboards. It is a quick process, just post your gamertag in the leaderboard thread and it will apply to ALL the leaderboards. Kinda cool.

I know - the "A" ranks are tough. I'm actually thinking of bumping the difficulty to 4 just because of those alone.

Bear in mind there are 2 versions of this game. The US version and the PAL/JP version. People have completed both as you can see here:

http://www.trueachievements.com/game.aspx?gameid=3257

and here;

http://www.trueachievements.com/game.aspx?gameid=3273

It must be hard as 4 people total have completed it but if I like the PAL/JP version I will import the NTSC-U version as I have a US console :)

This may sound like a stupid question but how the hell do you sign in? I turn on my box, log onto XBL with my profile and when I boot the game it has me playing as a guest. I managed to figure it out once but can't remember how the hell I did it.

When you start the game just keep putting your arm straight up to get through the prompts. You will eventually get a screen that says "P1 is a guest player. Guest players cannot earn achievements. Is this okay?" Now put your right arm out at a 90 degree angle to scroll to "NO" then put your arm straight up to select it.

This should pop up the profile sign in screen and you can just select whatever profile you need. May need to wave your hand for kinect to see you.

After selecting your profile you will be taken back to the game so just put your arm straight up to confirm and you should be ready to go.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1520/UP2aL7M=.jpgAir Trick Vertical Combo - 40:gsicon:

Perform an air trick with 2 consecutive vertical revolutions and land.

Just ride or jump off a ramp and do two flips. The easiest flip is the front flip, so just jump off a ramp and lean forward to start flipping. You need two complete flips and score a clean landing for this to work. If you need more air time to perform the trick, the biggest ramps are in the "Fly Distance" event

Been trying for this for a while now and it's not unlocking. I have done 1-4 vertical flips and landed the majority of them but nothing I seem to do unlocks this.

Tried in many modes on many maps with many variables so just a heads up that this might be glitched in very specific circumstances.

You can wave to recognise, or hold your left arm at about a 40degree angle with your right arm straight down by your side to bring up the Kinect Hub, where you can hover to sign in and auto re-recognise you.

I did that but it was still showing me as a guest. I continued through the screens until this part came up.....

You will eventually get a screen that says "P1 is a guest player. Guest players cannot earn achievements. Is this okay?" Now put your right arm out at a 90 degree angle to scroll to "NO" then put your arm straight up to select it.

...which allowed me to log in yet again and it then recognized my profile.

Kinda crappy interface but otherwise decent game. After playing just a little bit, I can tell that it's going to take some practice to snag A ratings on many of the events.

Thanks for the help, guys :)

Edit - Well done on the guide, BTW.

just wondering if the dlc boards are worth buying at all and also if they would make the game any easier to complete
The DLC boards are the only "5 star" boards available and are the best in the game. You cannot unlock them through the game, they have to be purchased through the marketplace. (kinda sucks if you ask me but at least they are only ripping you off for 80 points) If you bought one and used it from the beginning it would save you the time of having to play the events and get a 3 or 4 star board before going for your "A" ranks. If you do decide to get one, only get 1 and pick one that comes from a character that suits your play stlye. There really is no reason to get them all unless you are a completionist. Each DLC board does have different stats, but it isnt really that drastic in the game itself.

Let me re-iterate that you do NOT have to have a 5 star board for anything achievement related. They are all possible with 3 and 4 star boards. It just might make it a little easier/quicker.

downhill slalom master achievement....i just unlocked the achievement with a time of 1'16'594....on the first race so there is some room for error from your rough time post in the guide....im probably on the high end of receiving the A rank....but just a heads up for those still working on this achievement:woop:

Yeah I believe the time to beat is 1'20'000 I missed two flags and still got an A :D
